Creativity

What is Creativity?
Creativity is…
Aqui apresentei alguns conceitos interessantes que encontrei...
Ability to develop scientific theories, inventing instruments and devices, or produce works of art;
•The ability to produce new and valuable things;
•The ability to deconstruct reality and restructure it in other ways;
•The act of uniting two things that had never been united and draw a third thing;
•A technique to solve problems; An innate ability that is blocked by cultural and environmental influences.

Mental blocks are obstacles that prevent us to correctly perceive the problem or devise a solution. Because of these blocks we become incapable to think of something different, even when our usual answers no longer work.
Some blocks are created by us, like: fears, perceptions, prejudices, experiences, emotions, etc.. While others are created by the environment: tradition, values, rules, lack of support, conformity, among others. The blocks should be...

Cultural Blocks: barriers we impose on ourselves, generated by pressures from society, culture or the group we belong to. They lead us to reject the thinking of people or different groups.
Some of these blocks:
•We do not think or act this way here.
•Our way is right.
•We respect our traditions.
•It moves in a winning team.

Resulting conditions and the working environment: (physical and cultural):
•Distractions in the workplace, real or imagined (interruptions, noise, telephone, e-mail).
•Oppressive work environment, unsafe, unpleasant.
•Attitudes that inhibit the expression of feelings, emotions, humor and fantasy.
•Authoritarian management styles inhibitors.
•Lack of support, cooperation and trust.
•Routine which is stressful and inhibiting.

Intellectual Block and communication: Inability to formulate and clearly express ideas and problems.
This may result from several factors:
•Lack of information and little knowledge about the problem or situation addressed.
•Incorrect or incomplete information.
•Professional or functional settings: that is, seek solutions only within the limits of their expertise or field of activity.
•Belief that for every problem there is only one valid solution.
•Misuse or inflexible methods for solving problems. Inability to formulate and clearly express problems and ideas.

Emotional blocks: Resulting from discomfort to explore and manipulate ideas. They prevent us to communicate our ideas to others.
Some examples:
•Afraid to take risks, since children are taught to be cautious and not to fail ever.
•Fear of looking foolish or ridiculous.
•Difficulty in isolating the problem.
•Discomfort with uncertainty and ambiguity.
•Negativism: premature for reasons for failure, that will not work.
•Inability to distinguish between reality and fantasy.

Perception: Obstacles that prevent us from clearly perceiving the problem or information needed to solve it. Inability to see the problem from various points of view.
Examples
•Stereotypes: ignore that an object can have other applications beyond its usual function.
•Gutenberg adapted the grape press to print books; Santos Dumont used the piano wire to replace the heavy and thick ropes used in balloons.
•Imaginary boundaries: we design borders on the problem or the solution that does not exist in reality.
•Overloaded information: too much information and detail that restrict the solution that can be considered.

Blocks to Creativity
Blocks are like invisible walls that prevent us from leaving the narrow confines of the cubicle that has been built over years.
The bricks of the wall are made of our fears, frustrations, anxieties and constraints of society, family, colleagues and superiors. When you feel paralyzed and are unable to think differently, relax and try to see those bricks.
Awareness of mental blocks is already halfway to develop their creative abilities.

10 Attitudes of very creative people

1.Curiosity
Creativity requires a permanent disposition to investigate, understand and seek new information about the things that surround us.
To become a more creative person you must learn to ask "why?" And "what if ...?" And incorporate these questions to their way of life.
Unfortunately, with the maturity we have lost that attitude inquisitive childhood, when we did not respite from our parents, wondering why about everything.
It is necessary to stimulate the return of this natural curiosity, canceled by the school, family and businesses.

2. Confronting challenges
Creative people do not flee but the challenges they face asking "how can I overcome this?".
They have a positive attitude and see in each issue a chance to get creative and design something new and valuable.

3. Constructive discontent
Creative people have an acute sense of what is wrong with the environment around them. However, they have a positive attitude about this perception and are not overwhelmed by the wrong things. Instead, they turn this disaffection into motivation to do something constructive.
Santos Dumont was an enthusiast of the balloons but was not satisfied with its limitations and has not ceased to invent an aircraft blimp.

4. Minded
Creativity requires an open mind and willing to examine new ideas and facts. Creative people are aware and look to get rid of prejudices, assumptions and other mental blocks that may limit the reasoning.
Who sees a cell just like a telephone, may never think of adding the device to other utilities such as photography, GPS, email and MP3.

5. Flexibility
The very creative people are able to adopt different approaches to solve a problem. They know how to combine ideas, unusual connections and generate many potential solutions. They love to look at things from different perspectives and generate many ideas.

6. Suspension of the trial
Imagine and criticize at the same time, it's like driving with the brakes. Creative people know that there is a time to develop ideas and others to judge them. They know that every idea is born weak and needs time to mature and prove their value and usefulness before being put to trial.

7. Summary
Look at the trees without losing sight of the forest. The ability to focus on details without losing sight of the whole is a fundamental skill of creative people.
The vision of the whole gives the ways to establish connections between information and ideas seemingly unconnected.

8. Optimism
Henry Ford summed up the consequences of our actions: Be believing that you can either can not, you're probably right. People who believe that a problem can be solved eventually find a solution. For them, no challenge is so great that it can not be met and no problem so difficult that it can not be resolved.

9. Perseverance
The very creative people do not give up easily on your goals and continue the search for solutions, even when the path is long and shows the obstacles seem insurmountable. Too often, the search for a creative solution requires determination and patience.
Let us listen to Professor Sir Harold Kroto, Nobel Prize in Chemistry: Nine out of ten of my experiments fail, and this is considered a very good result among scientists.

A persistência é a mãe do Sucesso.

10. Eternal Apprentice
Often, creative solution born of unusual combinations, establishing similarities and connections between ideas and objects that do not appear to have any relationship to each other. The raw material for these analogies and connections are the observed facts and knowledge and previous experience that person brings. It is through their cultural heritage that each person can put a little piece of originality. This cultural heritage is born and nourished in an attitude of insatiable curiosity and pleasure in learning new things. Which of these mental attitudes characterize their way of dealing with their challenges? What are your strengths? What you need to develop attitudes to strengthen their creativity? Focus on those that you consider essential for the improvement of their creativity and prepare a plan of action. But keep in mind that attitudes are not changed from one day to another. This requires discipline, patience and perseverance. It can be difficult, but the premium is high.

Sempre temos algo a aprender, sempre.

Learn the 7 principles of creative thinking:

Attitude.
Attitude is a key component of any development victorious. As Henry Ford said: If you believe you can, you're right. If you believe you can not, you're also right.
Positive attitudes are strong catalysts for creative energy and adding skills and talents. See yourself as a creative person is an important step to release your imagination and make full use of their skills and knowledge.

Challenge assumptions.
Consciously or unconsciously, we have beliefs that prevent us from using your imagination and solve problems creatively. We are also affected by the beliefs of other people who pressure us to always follow the conventional paths and not run away from monotony. In solving a problem, it is important to identify and list the assumptions, conventions and beliefs that affect their understanding, analysis and solution. Examine them critically and get rid of that are not true or have become obsolete.

Break the rules.
Certainly we can not break all the rules, but in problem solving and innovation is important to question the rules, especially when they trap our minds into old habits and ways of thinking. Often, to move forward is to abandon the main road and try to paths never crossed.

Do not be afraid of making mistakes.
Who does not ventured, nothing gained - teaches us the old saying. The great inventions rarely result from a stroke of luck, but usually a succession of failed attempts to reach the desired result. The rust WD 40 is so named because the solution was only reached in the forty attempt. She was preceded by 39 trials without satisfactory.

There is always more than one right solution.
At school we are taught that there is only one right solution. In fact, very often there is more than one and often the first answer that comes to mind is the least creative. Strive to look for other solutions so that you have multiple options to compare and choose the best.

Stop the trial.
The trial early is the surest way to block creativity. It is essential to separate the phase of idea generation phase of trial, because you can not drive with one foot on the accelerator and the other on the brake. In teamwork, one must be attentive to the behaviors that discourage participants' contributions, block their minds and undermine team spirit.

Persistence.
Try and have some failures is part of the process of generating ideas and innovation. The secret of success is constancy of purpose, to remain firm despite the mishaps on the road. It is useful to recall the words of the Greek historian Herodotus who lived in the 5th century BC: Some give up their designs when they are about to reach their goals, while others, however, obtain a victory by employing at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than before.

Creativity in problem solving:

Look like an eagle - look above.Get an overview of the whole picture, including everything that is relevant, see the boundaries, look holistically know what is happening.

Analyze how the owl - with a 360-degree view.Be aware of all factors, even the hidden or hard to find, which may affect their analysis and decisions.

Solve as a human - with ingenuity and courage. Use all your imagination, knowledge and experience to escape the obvious routes and find innovative solutions.

How is your creativity today?
